General Notes: Husband - Michael Murphy

He came from County Limerick, Ireland during a panic and, legend has it, to get away from the internal fighting and bickering in Ireland produced by the drought. He promptly signed on as a teamster in the Union Army (Civil War) was assigned to an Illinois regiment, soldiered with the Adams boys, had no home to return to after the war so followed them. There he met and married their sister Mary. He was wounded severely in the left ankle at Chicamauga, captured, exchanged and never actually recovered from the bad wound in the ankle.
