General Notes: Husband - John Carothers
He was a farmer, living in South Huntingdon Twp, Westmoreland County, PA.
He received his education in the common schools of his neighborhood and was engaged in farming in South Huntingdon township, Westmoreland County, PA, until 1887. He then removed to West Newton in order to secure better educational advantages for his family than was afforded by the rural district schools. He immediately purchased a desirable lot in the borough and erected a fine and commodious residence.
