General Notes: Husband - Joseph Selden
He went with his mother to Hadley, Massachusetts, in 1659. In 1684 he removed to Deerfield, returning to Hadley in 1694. On January 31, 1696, he bought out the heirs of Hon. John Leverett, and on another occasion made a purchase of Captain John Cullick. Jo-seph Selden is described as of Hadley in the Hadlyme deed. "He was an active and enter-prising man," once said Mr. Judd, "somewhat excitable and sometimes rash in his doings." In 1681 he was assessed for building Port River bridge. In 1687 he paid taxes in Had-ley, and was fined for his wife wearing silk dresses. He fought in King Philip's war and was in the Deerfield fight.
