General Notes: Husband - James Williamson Christy

He grew to manhood on the old family homestead, and at the age of twenty-four went to Greenville, Mercer County, Pennsylvania, and followed the tan­ning business about five years. He then traded his interest in the tan-yard for fifty acres of land near Greenville, which he soon afterward sold and purchased 200 acres in Sandy Creek Township, on which he settled per­manently in 1836.

He was a farmer and cattle dealer, spending the last twenty years of his life in retirement at Greenville. He was of the United Presbyterian faith, and in politics a Whig and a Republican.
