He was engaged in the real estate business at Panama, Iowa. He was of a literary and artistic turn of mind, being a regular contributor to "The Dollar Newspaper," published at Philadelphia, and also to "Godey's Magazine." He also took great interest in the study of the violin, and had much ability in that direction.
