General Notes: Husband - Archibald Shaw
Of Scotch-Irish descent, Archibald and Robert Shaw, brothers, took up lands in Clearfield County, Pennsylvania, on the west side of the river, about one and a half miles below the county seat, in the year 1810.
The settlement of the Shaw family in Clearfield County, Pennsylvania, dates back to the year 1810, at which time Archibald Shaw and family located on the Mount Joy ridges, a few miles north from Clearfield town.
He and his wife were the parents of eight children, sons and daughters, each of these children grew to manhood and womanhood.
Soon after marriage he and his wife emigrated to America, locating first in Chester County, Pennsylvania, thence removing to Mifflin County, and in 1810 to Clearfield County, settling on a farm about two miles north of Clearfield, where they followed agricultural pursuits the rest of their lives.
He and his wife emigrated to the United States when their son Richard was yet small. They settled first in Chester County, Pennsylvania, from there they moved to Mifflin County, and in 1810, to Clearfield County, their first purchased farm being situated in what later became the borough limits of Clearfield.
