He purchased the "Point Pleasant" farm in North Huntingdon township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.

He was born in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, on the old Muse homestead. He assisted in the care and management of these acres until his marriage, when he moved to Westmoreland County, and bought a farm, which he cultivated during the remainder of his life. For some time he held the office of supervisor. He affiliated with the Republican party, and was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church.
