General Notes: Husband - Lewis Chambers

He came to Butler County, Pennsylvania, about 1818, and settled in what is now Venango township, on a farm later occupied by his son James L. He cleared and improved this property, and resided upon it until his death.
He was a member of the Methodist church nearly all his life, and a class leader for many years. In politics, he was a Republican. [HBC 1895, 1319]

He came from east of the mountains of Pennsylvania, and located on what became known as the Chambers farm, one mile west of Eau Claire, Butler County. He was a carpenter by trade.
