After marriage he and his wife resided on the home place in Peters township, Washington County, Pennsylvania, until 1868, when they removed to the Miller homestead, and in 1886 came to a home in Canonsburg.
He was an active worker in the ranks of the Republican party, and in religion a member of the Chartiers U. P. Church.
