General Notes: Husband - John McBride

He was born on the ocean voyage to America, but passed his earlier years in Sandy Creek Township, Mercer County, PA, engaged in farming and work on the Old Pike Road upon which the family homestead fronted. At this point there was quite a steep hill, and it often became the pleasure and pride of the McBrides to bring out their fine team of oxen for the purpose of helping the lumbering stage coach over the difficulty. As a youth and a young man, he also became known as an efficient repairer of the thoroughfare, which had become old even in those days. [HMC 1909, 1014]
