General Notes: Husband - Hon. Alexander Caldwell
He was a Pennsylvanian by birth, and identified himself with Clearfield County at an early period, opening up a farm in Pike township, and taking a leading part in public affairs. At one time he was sheriff of the county, and in 1854-56 he was a member of the Assembly.
In his early life he gave his support to the Democratic party, but afterward affiliated with the Republicans. He was a consistent member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, served as class leader and superintendent of the Sunday-school.
