General Notes: Husband - Thomas Carson, Sr.

He was an Irishman by birth, and with his wife came to Washington County, Pennsylvania, and took up a tract of land on the waters of Maple Creek, where they lived and died, leaving a large family of children, eleven in number. Besides attending to the improvement and tilling of their land, he was a shoemaker by trade, at which business he made a good livelihood.

He was born and married in Ireland. Coming to America, he located in Maryland, whence a few years afterward he moved to Fallowfield township, Washington County, Pennsylvania, where he died.

Another source: they were from Northern Ireland, but married in America. It appears that they were the couple that was married on 28 January 1762 in the Holy Emanuel Episcopal Church in New Castle, Delaware, where they probably landed. This suggests that they either met on the ship or knew each other before they departed Ireland.

There is a great deal of confusion between the generations of this family.
