General Notes: Husband - William Wilson Davidson
He was educated in the public schools of Lawrence County, Pennsylvania, and in the Edinboro Normal School, which he attended until he was twenty-one years old. He worked on his father's farm in Big Beaver Township for many years, and then decided to venture into the business world. At the time he came to this decision, Ellwood City was just being laid out, and Mr. Davidson made up his mind to essay the field that it promised. In April, 1891, he moved to Ellwood City, and there, in the same year, founded the firm that became W. W. Davidson & Son. From the very first the flour and feed enterprise flourished and grew with the city, so that it became one of the largest of its kind in the county. When Mr. Davidson established his business in Ellwood City there were only two or three houses there and he purchased large tracts of land. He purchased the old Rouser farm of one hundred and six acres in North Sewickley Township, adjoining Ellwood City, and laid it out in houselots, many of which were then sold and built upon.
Mr. Davidson was a Republican, active and prominent in the party for many years, and he took part in its affairs in the city and county.
He and his wife were members of the First United Presbyterian Church, which he served as trustee, and was a member of the building committee
in 1914-15. He was a Sunday school teacher for about thirty-five years.
