General Notes: Husband - Jeremy Burns White
He was educated in the public schools, Fayetteville Academy and in Westminster College. During the civil war he volunteered and enlisted in Company D, Twenty-first Pennsylvania Cavalry, and at the expiration of his term of service he attended college. In the spring of 1865, in response to a call of the National Government, the majority of the employes in his father's mill enlisted, upon which he left school, came home and assumed control.
He was a member of the G. A. R.; politically he was a Republican, and in the fall of 1884 was elected a member of the Legislature. He took an interest in school matters and served as school director for nine years.
