General Notes: Husband - James Scroggs, Jr.


He was the eldest of five siblings, attended the schools of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, then went to Ann Arbor, Michigan, and first attended the literary department of Michigan University, subsequently entering the medical department of the same institution, where he remained one year. He then returned to Fairview, the home of his father, and continued his studies at home until the opening of the Cincinnati College of Medicine and Surgery, which he then entered and from which he was graduated in 1872. He came to Beaver County and commenced the practice of his chosen profession at Fairview. He practiced one year in Fairview, and then moved to Beaver where he soon obtained a good practice. He took much interest in the Beaver County Medical Society. In politics he was a Republican, and served as a member of the school board for ten years in Beaver borough. He was physician to the Beaver County Home, physician to Beaver county jail, also county physician.
