General Notes: Husband - John Carnahan Henderson

---

He was probably born in Scotland and removed to near Coote Hill, County Cavan, Ireland, came to America with his parents in 1795, and resided for a short time in or near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was one of the three brothers who located tracts of land in what is known today as Worth township, Mercer County. They returned in the spring of 1796 to clear their tracts and erect homes. He married and to his union eleven children were born. He also reared from young childhood two grand-sons, John, son of Margaret, and Justus, son of Joanna. He was an industrious, prosperous man and according to a granddaughter was careful of his personal appearance by being dressed in the correct fashion when appearing in church and public gatherings. He, like his older brother William, was interested in public education and gave liberally to the support of the church.

He served in the War of 1812, in a company from Mercer County. He located in Irwin township at an early date.
