General Notes: Husband - James McCreight
He was born near Shelocta, Indiana County, Pennsylvania, and removing to Plum Creek township settled at the forks of Plum creek and Crooked creek; living in that township until 1832. Later he moved with his parents to Paradise settlement, about four miles from where Reynoldsville now stands. He soon returned to Plum Creek township, and for seven consecutive winters taught school in a log cabin on what was later the Kimmel farm, on Plum creek. He learned the carpenter's trade and built many barns, also following farming. In the early forties he bought a farm near the junction of the north and east branches of Plum creek, where he resided until his death. In politics he was a Republican. He was one of the organizers of the United Presbyterian Church at Elderton, and was one of the two elders.
