General Notes: Husband - Samuel B. Gamble

He was born in Clarksburg, West Virginia, and received his education in Butler County, Pennsylvania, where he also learned the trade of brickmaking.
Early in the Civil War he enlisted for three months in Company B, One Hundred and Fifty-fifth Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteers, and upon the expiration of his term reenlisted for the duration of the war. He was with the Army of the Potomac in the following battles: Rappahannock Station, Mine Run, Wilderness, Spottsylvania, North Anne River, Bethel Church, Cold Harbor, Weldon Road, Peoble Farm, Hatcher's Run, Quaker Road, and Five Forks.
After the close of the war, Mr. Gamble established himself as a brick manufacturer at Leechburg, Armstrong County, where he made the brick used in the building of the Pennsylvania Station. After spending a number of years at Leechburg, Mr. Gamble moved to Chicora, Butler County, whence, at the end of twelve years, he migrated to Columbus, Ohio. He later resided in New Kensington, Allegheny County.
His political principles were those of the Republican party, and at New Kensington he filled the offices of councilman, health officer and justice of the peace. He was a past commander of the Grand Army of the Republic and affiliated with the Knights of Pythias. His religious membership was in the Methodist Episcopal church, New Kensington, of which he was a trustee and in which he served twenty years as class leader, eighteen years as steward and twelve years as superintendent of the Sunday school.
