He was educated at Edinboro State Teachers College, Western Reserve Medical College and Bellevue Medical College. Resided in Greenville, PA, from 1881 to 1888 and then removed to Trinidad, CO. He was very much interested in education and served on the School Board in Pennsyl­vania. After his removal to Colorado, he was elected to the Board of Education of Trinidad and served as its secretary for many years. He also served for a number of years as county and city physician. He was a member of a number of lodges: Masons, K. O. T. M., F. D. A., A. O. U. W., Yeoman, W. O. W., Woodman Circle and Degree of Honor.
