General Notes: Husband - John T. Welker

Attending the district schools and assisting on the home farm in Lawrence County, PA, he learned the trade of a house joiner when young, and followed it for several years. He also taught school for nineteen years in Lawrence and Mercer counties. Coming to Mercer County in 1866, he lived for three years on land that he purchased in Springfield Township. Selling out in 1869, he bought a property in Findley Township, and for many years continued business as a contractor and builder, looking after his farm in the meanwhile. Passing through his estate was a never-failing spring of water, with an excellent fall, which he improved for milling purposes. For a number of years he operated a saw-mill only, but later added a feed mill and a cider mill.
