General Notes: Husband - Anderson McCandless
He was born on the McCandless homestead, in Centre township, Butler County, PA, received his education in the pioneer subscription schools, and followed farming until his death. He and his wife had nine children, five of whom grew to maturity. They were members of Muddy Creek Presbyterian church, and took a deep interest in the growth and prosperity of that denomination. In early life he was a Whig, but subsequently united with the Democratic party. He filled several of the minor offices in his township, and was connected with the State Militia, during his young manhood.
He was living in 1883. [HBC 1883, 339] He died in 1854. [MRF, 9]
