General Notes: Husband - Peter Burket
He was a native of York County, Pennsylvania, came to the valley [Blair County?] about the time of the Revolution, settling on the farm later owned by his grandson, Ephraim Burket.
He was a farmer and conducted his operations for many years in York County, Pennsylvania, removing to Sinking Valley, Blair County, about the year 1802, and there spent the remainder of his days.
On April 16, 1793, John Penn, the elder, and John Penn, the younger, through their attorney, Anthony Butler, conveyed to James Stewart, three hundred and seventy-five acres and thirty-nine perches of land, located in Tyrone township, Huntingdon County (afterwards Blair County), Pennsylvania. For this they received three hundred and seventy pounds, twelve shillings and one penny, correct money of Pennsylvania in specie, in addition to which said James Stewart was to pay a quit rent of one pepper corn on the first day of March of each and every year thereafter for each and every year if demanded. On March 19, 1802, the said James Stewart, of Mount Joy township, county of Adams, state of Pennsylvania, and Elizabeth, his wife, sold to Peter Burket, the great-grandfather of the present Mr. Burket, of York County, Pennsylvania, the same tract of land, the price on this occasion being two thousand pounds of lawful money of Pennsylvania. The title to the above farm passed from Peter Burket, Sr., to his son, Peter Burket, Jr., from him to Colonel Ephraim Burket, and then to John W. Burket, his son.
