He was born in Juniata County, Pennsylvania, but spent the greater part of his life in Huntingdon County, where for some time he was the manager of the Pennsylvania Furnace Co. He owned two farms, and in his later years he settled upon one, located in Ferguson township, Centre County, where his death occurred.
