General Notes: Husband - Judge Joseph Buffington
He was prominent in the law, a member of Congress, president judge of the Eighteenth Judicial district of Pennsylvania, composed of Clarion, Elk, Jefferson and Venango counties, and was appointed chief justice of the Territory of Utah by President Fillmore, but declined; from 1856 until shortly before his death he was judge of the Tenth district of Pennsylvania, resigning in 1871.
