He was a student in the public schools of his neighborhood, and then his entire attention was devoted to concrete work. Throughout his life he was a resident of Sugar Grove, and held membership in the Methodist Episcopal church, was an active member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, and a Republican in politics.
