Another source has him as the grandson of Charles Brownfield, his father also being named Robert Brownfield.

He was with Crawford's expedition.

"Mary Brownfield was the daughter of Thomas and Ann Dowell whose family had emigrated from Wales in the early days of the Baptists." But the source does not make clear who this refers to. Possibly the wife of Robert Brownfield.
