He was the first of the Browns to settle in Fayette County, Pennsylvania. The Browns are of German descent. Wendall Brown settled in Fayette County prior to the Revolutionary War on a large estate, containing six hundred acres. The Browns constitute one of the oldest, wealthiest and most prosperous families of the county.
