General Notes: Husband - Henry Nathaniel Shrom, Esq.
He remained at home until fifteen years of age, when he went to learn the tailor's trade at Hogestown, Pennsylvania, thus spending between two and three years. He then removed to Meadville and not being satisfied with the trade he had learned, he there took up the drug business with his uncle, Norman Callender, in 1854. He was away a few months and then in 1857 he engaged in the business at Meadville, with Dr. Ray and Dr. Yates. Later, disposing of his interest in such business, he engaged in the same line of trade at Greenville, Pennsylvania, April 10, 1858.
Politically, he was a staunch Republican and in church faith a Presbyterian. He belonged to the blue lodge, chapter and Northwestern Commandery of the Masonic fraternity at Meadville; was also a member of the Elks, Lodge No. 145, at Greenville. He served as a member of the city council.
