General Notes: Husband - Alexander Calhoun

He was reared on the home farm and obtained his education in the public schools. On the death of his father he fell heir to a portion of the old home property, and, through purchase of a part of the share held by his brother James, became the owner of a farm two hundred and twenty-five acres in extent. The land was well improved, James Calhoun having erected a comfortable home on his property, in which Alexander Calhoun resided until his death. General farming was the line he followed during his active years. In political action he was a Democrat, serving for many years as school director of his township, and with his wife belonged to the Presbyterian church, in which he held the position of elder.
