He was educated at Grove City College and Pennsylvania State College, from which latter institution he was graduated in the agricultural department, class of 1911. He was in charge of the orchards of the Wigton farms, of Erie County, Pennsylvania; was later connected with the Holcomb farm at Conneaut Lake in the producing of vegetables.
