General Notes: Husband - Matthew J. Caldwell

Civil War: He enlisted in 1861, from Clearfield, in the "Bucktail Regiment," under Col. Irwin, and served throughout the war, participating in many severe battles in which they were assigned to the points of greatest danger. When hostilities ended he was discharged. After his return he resided at Coalport, where he followed painting as an occupation.
