General Notes: Husband - Charles Eachel
He was educated in Beaver County, Pennsylvania, and there followed farming until the oil business opened a new field of industry. As an oil producer he was quite successful. He had six wells on his farm of 106 acres, all of which was leased, except five acres, which he operated himself.
His education was the limited one which the district schools of that time afforded, but he amply supplemented it by keen powers of observation, and by keeping himself well posted as to current events. He followed the occupation of farming until he was thirty years of age, at which time he became identified with oil enterprises. He drilled the first well which was on his farm and ran the first tank (Hoovler's) from Murdocksville. He also operated oil wells at Marietta, Ohio, and elsewhere. He gave his political support to the Democratic party, and he and his wife were members of the United Presbyterian church.
