General Notes: Husband - Maj. John Brownson
He was a ruling elder in the Presbyterian Church, and also rendered military service to his country, having been connected with the army of the southwest in the War of 1812.
For many years he was a leading citizen of Mercersburg, Pennsylvania. He was a soldier in the War of 1812, and a prominent officer in the Pennsylvania militia.
