General Notes: Husband - Samuel Johnson Crothers
In 1834 he located on the farm in Buffalo township, Washington County, Pennsylvania, that was later owned by Samuel Blayney. On that farm he remained until 1845, when he removed to another which he had bought some years before, this one was later owned by L. M. Crothers, his youngest son. He remained on this farm until his death.
He and his wife had a family of seven children, of whom three sons and three daughters still survived in 1893.
"He was very public-spirited, taking an active and special interest in every movement tending to the welfare of his neighborhood. His characteristics, which were strongly pronounced, and as unchangeable and firm as a rock of adamant, may be summed up in a few words: He thought for himself, he said exactly what he thought; and he did exactly what he said."
