General Notes: Husband - Col. Joseph Budd

The Budd estate, just south of West Newton, on the Youghiogheny River, and in Rostraver township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, was in the possession of the Budd family for over a century. On the Budd estate were some remains of the ancient mound-builders, which were among the largest and best preserved in the state.

With his two brothers, Conklin and Joshua, he came from Somerset County, New Jersey, before the Revolutionary war and settled in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. Conklin only remained a short time, and went elsewhere to seek his fortune, but he and Joshua became owners of large areas of land at the ferry owned by them and named in their honor, and also in the “Forks.”
