He was born in Maryland, and came with his parents to Butler County, Pennsylvania, in 1818. They rest in the old cemetery at Zelienople.
He was born in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. [HBC 1895, 1092]
He lived at Whitestown for a period, and later purchased a farm in Jackson township, Butler County, from the Ziegler estate, upon which he spent the remaining years of his life. He was a Democrat in politics, and was an elder in the Lutheran church for many years. He contributed towards the erection of both the German and English Lutheran churches at Zelienople.
