General Notes: Husband - Joseph Brown
Forward Twp, Butler Co, PA
He was born at Big Spring, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, and came to Butler County, at the age of ten years, with his father. He was a man of good education, very industrious, and of excellent habits. He was a mem-ber of the Presbyterian Church of Middlesex, Pennsylvania, and an expert rifleman and won many prizes in his day.
He died on a portion of the original family homestead in Butler County, Pennsylvania.
He erected a mill and carried on milling and operated an old-fashioned distillery in conjunction with his farming operations.
General Notes: Wife - Mary Marshall
She was born in County Derry, Ireland, and came with her parents to the United States at the age of twelve years. They came in a sailing vessel which took three months to cross the ocean. They landed in Baltimore, Maryland, where they remained for three months, and then came by wagon over the mountains to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where they remained one year, and then removed to Penn Township, Butler County.
