He was from Levant township, Penobscot County, Maine, where he made his home for four years after marriage, and then they located in DuBois, Clearfield County, Pennsylvania. There he was employed in the iron works as a machinist, until 1895, when he located on the home farm, with his wife's brother, Thomas.
