He was a clergyman of the Episcopal church, his career a long, active and honorable one. For many years he was minister in the Methodist Episcopal church, but eventually associated himself with the Episcopal church in Cleveland, Ohio.

Their children were:
Caroline, married Thomas Robinson, of Cleveland, Ohio, a contractor of lake front constructions; Bessie, married Dr. William S. King, of Ashtabula, Ohio; Dr. H. Milton Brown, D. D. S., of Ashtabula, member of the faculty of Western Reserve University, and a director of Western Reserve Dental College; Elsie May, educated in the public schools of the town in which her father was pastor, including Ashtabula, Youngstown, Salem, and Akron, finished college preparation at Akron High School, going thence to the Woman's College, Western Reserve University, at Cleveland, Ohio, married James Brett Hammond; Annabelle, married James A. Kain, of Ashtabula, Ohio.
