He was educated in the public schools at home, and subsequently at Mount Pleasant Institute, where he was a student for one year. On account of his health he found it necessary to give up this confining work, and for four years accepted a position as clerk. At the end of this time, being greatly improved, he left immediately for Chicago, where he took a course in Optometrics. Completing this work in February, 1913, he located in Louisville, Kentucky, and remained there for over two years, then removed to Greensburg, Pennsylvania, and later became a resident of Cleveland, Ohio, his place of business being in the Arcade, No. 411 Euclid avenue, where he enjoyed a large and highly lucrative practice.
