He attended the public schools of Tyrone township, Fayette County, and Dawson, Pennsylvania, later entering the University of Pennsylvania, whence he was graduated Doctor of Dental Surgery, class of 1906. He was then appointed a demonstrator in the operating clinic of the university, where he served for three years. He located in Dawson the same year, and became well established in the practice of dentistry.
He was a Republican in politics, a member of the Methodist Episcopal church; James Cochran Lodge, Free and Accepted Masons; Duquesne Alumni Chapter, Psi Omega, Dental Fraternity, and the Pennsylvania State Dental Society.
