General Notes: Husband - Stephen Burgwin
He was reared on his father's farm, and early became familiar with all the duties that fall to the lot of the agriculturist. He enlisted in 1864 as a member of the Fourth Pennsylvania Cavalry for the remainder of the war, and with the Army of the Potomac participated in the battle of the Wilderness, the campaign in Shenandoah Valley, and the battle of Hatcher's Run. He was mustered out at Lynchburg, VA, and received an honorable discharge at Braddock, PA. He continued his residence in Venango County until 1873, when he came to Clarion county in the employ of the Standard Oil Company. For many years he served that company in the capacity of gauger.
