General Notes: Husband - David Bressler
When twenty-one years old, he came to Clearfield County, Pennsylvania, and was with his brother for four years on a farm and afterward worked one year with him as a blacksmith and then married. During the following year he lived on his father-in-law's farm. From there he moved to Chestnut Ridge and bought his own farm from Robert Addleman. It was known as the old Price farm and the land was not considered in very good condition at that time, but under Mr. Bressler's methods it became greatly improved and yielded very satisfactory crops of wheat and oats. He had a valuable coal bank open, the vein being eighteen inches thick, but he was not selling, merely working for his own use. There was also a fine vein of fire clay on the land which was not developed. Mr. Bressler was forced to make some improvements in the buildings but the old farm house was still comfortable although erected 100 previously. Mr. Bressler still had ten acres of woodland on the place.
He and his wife were members of the Primitive Methodist church. In his political views he was an independent with strong leanings towards the Prohibition party. He never cared for public office but served acceptably through one term as road supervisor.
