General Notes: Husband - John Brooks
He was educated in the schools of Paxtang, and at the age of eighteen went to Lancaster, Pennsylvania, to learn the trade of a gunsmith; completing his apprenticeship, he returned to Harrisburg where he established himself in business. He marched with his fellow-citizens to the defence of Baltimore in the War of 1812-14. He erected a warehouse on the Susquehanna at Harrisburg, and was the factor for the Messrs. Coleman and others, pioneers in the iron industries of the State. He served as a justice of the peace, and was burgess and assistant burgess of the borough of Harrisburg several terms; was a member and trustee of the Presbyterian church.
