He settled with his par­ents on the homestead in Donegal township, Butler County, PA, where he grew to manhood. In the spring of 1876 he went to Champaign County, Illinois, and engaged in farm­ing, but soon returned to Pennsylvania, where he embarked in the oil industry with his brothers, to which he then devoted his entire attention. In 1892 he removed from Bradford to Millerstown, where he thereafter resided. He was a member of the K. O. T. M., and was one of the enterprising citizens of the borough.
