General Notes: Husband - Jacob Gelbach

He received his education in the local schools and grew up on his father's farm; this was his own chosen occupation. When there was general discovery of oil in that region, Jacob Gelbach drilled on his farm and at Petersville Glade Run, and found plenty of gas. He had eight wells there whose ample flow brought him good returns. He also brought in a great gas well near Harmony. A Democrat in party affiliation, he was keenly interested in local politics, in which he played a not inconspicuous part. He served for many years on the Borough Council and as a justice of the peace. He was a communicant of the Reformed Church.
