General Notes: Husband - Lawrence Brindle

Brindle is a name well known in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, in pioneer days, it having been founded there by one Lawrence Brindle. The family originated in Scotland and came to the United States about the end of the eighteenth or the beginning of the nineteenth century. There is some little doubt as to whether Lawrence Brindle was born in Scotland and was himself the immigrant ancestor in America or whether his parents first came here and that he was born afterwards. The balance of evidence, however, is strongly in favor of the first theory and which ever be true, it is known that he came to Franklin County, Pennsylvania, in the year 1802, and there settled. Sometime afterwards he came to Westmoreland County, where he purchased property situated near Youngstown.
