This is an illustrious Irish family. Brennan, anciently known as Mac Brennan, O'Brennan, Brenan, Brenon, O'Brenon, and then changed to Brennan (Ulster and Connaught). Arms: Argent, a lion rampant azure, in chief two dexter hands couped at the wrist gules. Crest: Out of a ducal coronet or, a plume of five ostrich feathers azure and of the first alternately. Motto Sub hoc signo vinces (Under this sign thou shalt conquer).
