General Notes: Husband - Dr. Richard Brownson, M.D.


He was one of the early settlers of the historic region of Mercersburg, Franklin County, Pennsylvania, one of the most beautiful localities in the far-famed Cumberland Valley. He was a physician of great prominence, and served as surgeon of the Sixth Battalion of Pennsylvania troops in the war of the Revolution.
He was surgeon of Col. Samuel Culbertson's battalion, Cumberland County Associators, 1777-1780.

He was a nephew of Dr. Nathan Brownson, deputy surveyor of hospitals for the Southern Army, 1781-83, and governor of Georgia.
