General Notes: Husband - Kenneth McCoy
He was born on the farm his father had settled on, and there lived all his life cultivating the soil, and every year adding to the improvements. This farm he bought at the time of his marriage.
He was a Whig, and a strong advocate of the anti-slavery doctrine. He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church.
He aided many slaves in their escape by the “Underground Railroad” into Canada, and at one time he had eleven colored fugitives secreted in his barn, whom he fed and sheltered until an opportunity offered for them to continue on their flight to liberty.
